Venice, 9 May / WAM / The National Pavilion of the United Arab Emirates at the 61st session of the International Art Exhibition at the Venice Biennale opened its doors today to visitors following the preliminary opening from 6 to 8 May this year, through its new exhibition “Washousha”, which is led by a distinguished artistic curation team that includes Bana Kattan and Tala Nassar, and brings together the works of six prominent artists: Alaa Idris, Mays Al-Beik, Jawad Al-Malhi, Farah Al-Qasimi, and Lamia. Gargash, and Taos Makhacheva.

Laila Ben Brik, Director of the National Pavilion of the UAE, said: “As we open our doors today to welcome visitors to Venice, the “Washousha” exhibition represents a global invitation to listen to the “memory” of the creative UAE society. We do not merely present works of art, but rather review the journey of a society that has succeeded in preserving its identity and oral history amidst amazing technological and architectural transformations. Today we are doubly proud to celebrate six artists who embody the depth of our cultural practices, including creative women who started from our program. training to address the world today from the heart of Venice.”

Bin Brik added that visiting the UAE Pavilion this year is not just an artistic tour, but rather an immersion in a solid “social structure” that sorts voices and distinguishes facts amid the noise of the world.
